Mandatory Tech Week Rehearsals September 15-23 including Saturday, September 20 from 9:00-4:00pm.

Performance Dates:
Four performances. 9/24/25 – 9/27/25. 7pm showtime. 5pm call time.

VIDEOGRAPHY
This show requires the use of projected video to tell the story. Short clips of the St. Cassian choir members will play before each song, showing the actor in different costumes and locations. Baby and Elementary video clips would be very fun to include in the montage.

PUBLICITY
The director would very much like to bring the cast to the Alaska State Fair and collect some footage of riding the rides and eating cotton candy and things like that. Please indicate if you would be unable to attend a state fair photo call/publicity opportunity.

AUDITION FORMAT

  • Sing a 32-bar (1 minute) section of a musical comedy that shows off what you can do. Bring a backing track WITHOUT VOCALS to play behind your singing.

THEN please read a monologue from the script for the character you would like to be considered for. Script “cuttings” will be available online prior to the audition.
  • Please fill this AUDITION FORM out PRIOR to your audition time.

If you are interested in participating in Drama Tech, please come to auditions A or to B.
It is possible for the shop to open August 5-8 to get a head-start on building the fantastic world of RIDE THE CYCLONE.

Email the director, Mr. Lyke, a Letter of Interest if you would like to be a part of the production team. Seeking Stage Managers, Prop Masters, Costumers, and an Assistant Director.

CAST OF RIDE THE CYCLONE

THE NARRATOR
The Amazing KARNAK…a mechanical fortune-telling machine. A deep rumbling baritone voice, with a steady, measured, calm inflection that exudes gravitas but it is never pushed to comedic extremes. There is never any archness in the voice. Think an ominous mechanical Santa Claus—or God—or Hal 3000.

THE ST. CASSIAN CHOIR
OCEAN
O’Connell Rosenberg 17 Belter, Alto/Soprano
MISCHA Bachinski 18 Rapper/Folksinger, Baritone
NOEL Gruber 17 Smooth cabaret voice, Tenor
RICKY Potts 17 Rock voice, Baritone
CONSTANCE Blackwood 17 Rock voice, Alto
JANE Doe ? Classical/Operatic voice, Soprano

THE ENSEMBLE
The principals will be supported by 5-10 ensemble members. These dancers and singers will support the drama of the six doomed St. Cassian choir members. They will assist in stage transitions and special effects like flying choreography and lighting. These ensemble members will be de-facto understudies for the principals.

THE BAND: VIRGIL & THE UNDERWORLDS
Virgil the Rat… bass player… ideally should be able to play upright and electric.
The quintet is comprised of a group of rats. Along with the bass player, the band consists of a pianist/accordionist, a guitarist (acoustic, electric) and a percussionist/drummer (who can play
glockenspiel when asked). Ideally, the band can also chorally support the choir. Prerecorded backtracks (BT) will support the band in the electronic sections of – the piece—or in sections that require a larger sound.
